The exhibition showcases the art of traditional and modern totems in Taiwan’s indigenous cultures. The totems are made from a variety of media and display the distinct features of the tribes. The exhibition is held from Nov. 2 to 25, 2012 in the Weaving Craft Museum in the Taichung Municipal City Huludun Cultural Center.
The exhibition invites many artists, including renowned lacquer artist Doriq Nisak, from the Taroko Tribe. The themes range from ecological concerns, humanistic concerns to mythologies and legends, demonstrating the indigenous people’s reverence for nature.
