The 2024 Huludun Art Festival has extended an invitation to the Open Theater Group, a remarkable performing arts group from Taichung City. They will be presenting the premiere of The Secret of Storytelling Tea 1 - Sun and Moon Investigation Team on Saturday, May 4, at the Recital Hall of the Huludun Cultural Center. This enchanting and adventurous musical theatre production cleverly emphasizes the significance of “being grateful and content” as well as “collaboration and mutual assistance.” Families from Greater Taichung are warmly encouraged to attend and enjoy this show.
The Huludun Cultural Center noted that the Open Theater Group, a distinguished performing arts group from Taichung City, holds the unique distinction of being the only group in Central Taiwan to have received continuous support from the Ministry of Culture's “National Support for Performing Arts Groups” program for the past 18 years. This year, their latest production, Sun and Moon Investigation Team, written and directed by Li Ming-tse, draws inspiration from the local folklore of Sun Moon Lake and incorporates diverse indigenous cultures. Rooted in the principles of nature, the play not only showcases artistic excellence but also carries profound educational values. Two free “Art Theater Tours” are scheduled on the performance day afternoon, allowing families to step onto the stage and uncover the enchanting secrets hidden within the theater.
The Open Theater Group has announced their plans for this year, which involve revamping the most classic children's musical, The Secret of Storytelling Tea. Starting with the first chapter, The Legend of Sun Moon Lake, they are transforming it into a fresh rendition titled Sun and Moon Investigation Team. Their goal is to provide families with entertainment through theater and a deeper appreciation for traditional Taiwanese tales while fostering a sense of social and cultural awareness through shared learning experiences. The storyline recounts a distant era where the sun and moon coexisted in harmony, taking turns to illuminate and safeguard the earth. However, when malevolent forces infiltrated human hearts, both the sun and moon vanished, plunging the land into darkness. Facing a time of scarcity, brave youngsters banded together to form a rescue squad. They embarked on a perilous quest, braving obstacles to venture into the depths of the Black Tyrant Dragon's underground lair in search of the missing sun and moon.
The ticket sales for Sun and Moon Investigation Team started in mid-March. Currently, over 50% of the tickets have been sold out, with the 600 NTD tickets completely sold out.
