Ms. Huang Ching-chi was awarded the "Excellent Teacher Award" by the Ministry of Education in 2012. Twelve years ago, she fortuitously entered the field of stone sculpture. And it was her faith in Buddhism and love for lotus flowers that became her subject matter. Each year, she enters national sculpture competitions; and each year she wins numerous awards. Among awards won are the first prize of the 2012 (60th), 2016 (63rd), and 2018 (65th) Exhibition by the Central Taiwan Fine Arts Association – sculpture category.
In recent years, 40 different art pieces by Ms. Huang have won awards at various lotus flower stone sculpture competitions. This year, she once again won recognition from the judges of the "9th Taichung Artist's Relay Exhibition." Her entry—Frogs and the Lotus Pond—displays through carvings a realistic image of lotus flowers and their leaves and seedpods in the pond, along with croaking frogs. It presents the abstract concept of "the omnipresence of the Sanskrit".
