Infinite Possibilities! The Nation’s Top Young Artists Compete for the Highest Honor in Associative Painting
Date:2025-11-30
The 33rd National Children's Associative Drawing Contest, organized by the Taichung City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau, held its finals and awards ceremony today (November 30) at the Huludun Cultural Center. The 420 elementary students, selected from tens of thousands of entries nationwide during the preliminary round, embarked on a two-hour creative journey filled with boundless imagination. Beginning with the unveiling of a "mysterious graphic" for the finals, they channeled their abundant creative energy into their artwork.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that the Associative Drawing Contest has continued for more than 30 years, accompanying generations of children as they grow, thanks to the long-term support of YFY Enterprises and the Hsin-Yi Foundation, which provide drawing paper and printing resources. For over 20 years, this important support for children's art education has enabled countless children to discover their potential through a simple piece of drawing paper. The Huludun Cultural Center explained that the children's associative drawing contest has developed a unique format, providing each student with a sheet of paper printed with special lines. These seemingly simple patterns serve as a gateway to a creative universe. "100 Smiles of the Earth" is the main visual theme of this year's contest. It is inspired by the outstanding work of Chen Youlun from last year and incorporates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to encourage students to express their care for the environment through their artwork.

After intense competition and careful judging, 72 winners—each shining with their own unique brilliance—stood together on the stage of glory, where the top three awards were presented by Zeng Nengting, Deputy Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. Regarding the first-place entries from grades 1 through 6, the judges observed that this year’s diverse and dynamic graphics transcended rigid, formulaic expressions. First-grader Wang Shuoqian’s work demonstrated boundless imagination through pure, childlike vocabulary, using irregular lines to create a rich fantasy world. Second-grader Tu Yunzhen’s theme of road construction featured flexible, vivid depictions of machinery and characters, making it a rare and well-composed masterpiece this year. Third-grader Hong Guoying’s uniquely original turkey design transformed everyday observations into an emotionally engaging and humorous piece, conveying rich narrative depth. Fourth-grader Wang Yukai employed spatial extension techniques, using a mask as the focal point to create a powerful visual impact. Fifth-grader Zhu Chenrui seamlessly integrated geometric patterns, where vibrant marine creatures danced along flowing lines, creating a dynamic and richly detailed story scene. Sixth-grader Liu Yikuan demonstrated logical thinking, coordination, and a strong sense of depth, perfectly executing a street graffiti style. His outstanding creativity earned unanimous praise from the judges.

The awards ceremony showcased the Myth Magic Theatre Troupe, whose fantastical theater and magic created an immersive stage experience. The audience gasped in awe throughout, adding unforgettable memories to the children's moment of glory. Outdoor performances included street artists' acrobatics and interactive music shows, alongside a green living market. The Huludun Cultural Center buzzed with creative energy all day long, as if the entire city had been illuminated by the joy of art.
