Taichung Fengdong Junior High School Wind Band - French Horn Quintet

The Fengdong Wind Band was established in 1999 with the primary goal of connecting students from the Nanyang Elementary School Wind Band, providing opportunities for continued learning and performance during their junior high school years. Under the guidance of music arts advisor Professor Lin Shih-Wei, the Fengdong Wind Band has achieved remarkable success in the regional finals of the National Student Music Competition for four consecutive years. The band has also collaborated multiple times with schools in Taipei, Chiayi, and Taitung to conduct wind band exchange activities, broadening the members' horizons and enhancing their performance skills. Every June, they host an annual performance showcase at the Huludun Cultural Center, promoting music leisure activities and enriching the cultural atmosphere in the Fengyuan area.
Today, we are pleased to present a performance by the core members of the French horn quintet known as "Steel Barbie" playing techniques and produce a deep, resonant sound. The ensemble consists of Zhang Shuxun and Huang Shaohan from the first year, Zhuang Youying and Luo Qiaoqiao from the second year, and Zhang Duoxuan from the third year. With the exception of Huang Shaohan, who began learning the French horn only after joining the Fengdong Wind Orchestra, the other four members have been honing their skills since the third grade. We would like to extend our gratitude to the renowned Central Taiwan performer, Teacher Li Xinhui, for her invaluable guidance, which has enabled the quintet to present a relaxed and familiar selection of popular pieces for today's audience. The program includes "Joy to the World," "Little White Flower," "Mickey Mouse March," the theme from the movie "Titanic," and "Jamaican Holiday." We hope you enjoy the performance!
