An ode to life in mountains and rivers, Lee Tsung -jen's "Between Heaven and Earth" Ink Painting Exhibition

The Huludun Cultural Center's "ART. Fengyuan Artist Invitation Exhibition" features artist Lee Tsung-jen , who has dedicated nearly 40 years to the craft of ink painting. His work, themed "Between Heaven and Earth, the stunning beauty of mountains and rivers, as well as the harmonious coexistence and mutual prosperity of all living things on Earth. Through exquisite brushwork and vibrant colors, Lee integrates Western techniques of light and shadow composition, presenting landscape artworks that are rich in humanistic values. The exhibition will be on display from now until January 5, 2025, at the Huludun Cultural Center.
The Huludun Cultural Center reported that during his studies at the National Academy of Arts, Lee Tsung-jen won first prize at the National Fine Arts Exhibition for his works depicting urban Taipei, marking a remarkable debut. He later pursued further studies in the United States, where he obtained a master's degree in art creation before returning to teach in Taiwan. He has been invited multiple times to participate in international art exhibitions, showcasing his abundant creative energy. Lee Tsung-jen has conducted an in-depth exploration of various regions of Taiwan, with his "Forest Emotion Series" characterized by depictions of rural landscapes. He skillfully combines traditional ink techniques with the vivid, saturated colors of acrylic materials, captivating viewers.
Lee Tsung-jen expressed, "The solemn spirit and resilient life energy of the Yushan Juniper deeply moved me. Coupled with the sudden experiences of family members facing life's challenges, it became a symbol of spiritual support and a shared commitment with my family." The extraordinary energy of nature inspires an exploration of life's forms. The "Sanctuary Series" employs dry brush techniques and varying ink tones to meticulously depict the robust branches of the Yushan Juniper, reflecting the artist's appreciation for the tenacious vitality and solitary essence of high mountain junipers through pure and refined light and shadow.
